ICC Announce Record Prize Pool For SA-AUS WTC Final
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record prize pool, more than double of the previous one, for the 2023-25 WTC ahead of the final between South Africa and Australia. The winner of the upcoming final match will receive a lucrative sum of Rs. 30.78 crore, while runners-up will get Rs. 18.46 crores.
Team India will receive Rs. 12.31 crore for finishing third on the WTC points table, and they are followed by fourth-placed New Zealand (Rs. 10.26 crore), fifth-placed England (Rs. 8.2 crore) and sixth-ranked Sri Lanka (Rs. 7.18 crore). Bangladesh, West Indies and Pakistan will receive Rs. 6.15 crore, Rs. 5.13 crore and Rs. 4.10 crore respectively for finishing seventh, eighth and ninth on the standings.
LSG Replace Injured Mayank With O’Rourke
LSG fast bowler Mayank Yadav has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2025 season owing to an injury. The LSG franchise has now roped in New Zealand seamer William O'Rourke as his injury replacement. Yadav has sustained a back injury, prompting LSG to rope in O'Rourke at a reserve price of Rs. 3 crore.
Mayank Yadav has so far played just a couple of matches for the LSG franchise this IPL 2025 season, picking up two wickets at an expensive average of 50.
Titans Sign Kusal Mendis As Buttler’s Replacement
Similarly, the Gujarat Titans franchise has also roped in Sri Lankan batter Kusal Mendis as a replacement for Jos Buttler, considering the English batter is scheduled to fly out of India for national duties in England. Buttler will be available to play until Gujarat Titans’ final league game against CSK on May 25. Mendis will be effective as the cricketer’s replacement in the playoffs. He was recruited by the Titans for a sum of Rs. 75 lakhs.
Moeen Ali Opts Out Of KKR’s IPL 2025 Campaign
Former England cricketer Moeen Ali has opted out of the remainder of the IPL 2025 season for the KKR franchise. As per reports, the all-rounder cited personal reasons behind his exclusion. Ali has played six matches for the KKR franchise this IPL 2025, picking up six wickets in the process at an average of 22.66. With the bat, he managed to score just five runs from two innings at a dismal batting average of 2.50.
Harmanpreet To Lead As BCCI Name Women’s Squad For ENG Tour
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named India Women’s squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I tour of England. Senior batter Harmanpreet Kaur is set to continue as Indian skipper, while Shreyanka Patel and Renuka Singh missed out due to their respective injuries. The Indian women’s team will face hosts England in a five-match T20I series between June 28 and July 12. The tour will conclude with a three-match ODI rubber from July 16 onwards.
