Virat Kohli made his first appearance for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise since announcing his Test retirement earlier this month. On Thursday, May 15, i.e., a couple of days prior to the resumption of IPL 2025 season, Kohli hit the nets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to prep himself up for the match against defending champions KKR.

The legendary Indian batter was spotted hitting the ball nicely and cleanly to all parts of the iconic venue, as evidenced by a short video shared by the RCB on their social media platforms.

Virat Kohli goes big at the nets

In a 51-second video shared by the RCB franchise on May 15, Virat Kohli was spotted making his way into the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru for a nets training session. Playing in his usual rhythm, the 36-year-old can be seen hitting the ball to all parts of the ground.

Virat Kohli belted four half-centuries in succession for the RCB in his last four innings before the BCCI suspended the IPL 2025 season citing security concerns. Overall, the legendary Indian batter has minted 505 runs from 11 innings at a splendid batting average of 63.12 and at a strike rate of 143.46.

Kohli’s prolific touch with the bat has played a crucial role in RCB qualifying for the playoffs. At the moment, the Rajat Patidar-led side has secured eight wins and sustained just three defeats from 11 matches. Ranked second on the IPL 2025 points table, they will now go up against defending champions KKR on Saturday, May 17 in Bengaluru.

The match also marks the re-launch of the IPL 2025 season since its 10-day long suspension.
