The IPL 2025 is all set to start on May 17 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru going up against Kolkata Knight Riders. It is a must-win game for KKR, but it is also an important encounter for RCB who are currently at the number 2 position on the points table. They have 16 points in their kitty, and here is how RCB's qualification scenarios look like ahead of IPL resumption.
RCB's Qualification Scenarios For IPL 2025
- RCB have played 11 matches so far and have won eight of those. Thus, with 16 points in their bank, they just need one win to confirm their qualification for the playoffs.
- If RCB win all their three matches, it would guarantee them a top-2 finish, while two wins out of three matches might force them to play the Eliminator.
- RCB can even qualify for the playoffs if they lose all their three matches. However, for that, they need other results to go their way.
- If they lose all three matches, and four other teams reach 16 or more points, RCB would have to depend on net run-rate. A lesser net run-rate than the other team with 16 points would end their playoff hopes.
One positive thing for RCB is that all their three league games after the resumption are with the lower-placed teams on the points table. The two of those matches are at home, first one against KKR on May 17 and and the second against SRH on May 23. Their final league game will be against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27, thus RCB are in quite a comfortable position to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2025.
Also, all RCB overseas players are available till the end of the league stage which is a big positive for the Bengaluru-based franchise.
