The KKR team management is also awaiting update from explosive West Indies middle-order batter Rovman Powell. Powell, currently in the UAE along with the rest of KKR’s West Indies-based colleagues, is nursing an unspecified injury at the moment.
KKR suffer huge overseas blow before IPL resumption
With the resumption of IPL 2025 nearing by, the KKR franchise seems to have suffered a massive blow in its overseas contingent. As per ESPNCricinfo, England all-rounder Moeen Ali has already opted out of the remainder of the IPL 2025 season citing personal reasons.
Moreover, West Indies hard-hitting batter Rovman Powell is suffering from an unspecified injury in Dubai, which might well hamper his further participation.
As per reports, the KKR franchise is aiming to sign at least one cricketer as a short-term replacement after possibly losing two overseas stars.
KKR, also the defending champions, need to win each of their remaining two games in the opening round of IPL 2025. As of now, Ajinkya Rahane and co. have secured five wins and sustained six defeats from 11 matches to be ranked sixth on the IPL 2025 points table.
The IPL 2025 season is set to resume on Saturday, May 17 with a match between KKR and hosts RCB at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. A defeat in the game will dash KKR’s dwindling prospects for securing a place in the playoffs.
