India Women recently dominated the ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka, and with an aim to continue that good performance, BCCI has announced strong squads for the white-ball tour of England. India will play five T20Is and three ODIs with the first game of the shortest format on June 28. Harmanpreet Kaur is the captain of both the teams while Smriti Mandhana is her deputy.
Shafali Verma Continues To Get Ignored From ODI Setup
There are no major changes in the squads with the likes of Shreyanka Patil and Renuka Singh still recovering from their respective injuries. Both the players who play for RCB in WPL were not part of the squad in the tri-series due to injuries and Indian selectors have decided to try out some untested players in their absence.
As far as ODI squad is concerned, Kashavee Gautam has been dropped while Shafali Verma continues to get igored with Pratika Rawal performing consistently at the top of the order. Sneh Rana has been named in both the squads after impressive performance on the Sri Lankan tour while Sree Charani, Shuchi Upadhyay, Kranti Goud, Amanjot Kaur have also retained their spots in the ODI team.
In the T20I team, Shafali Verma will partner Smriti Mandhana while Richa Ghosh and Yastika Bhatia are the two wicketkeepers in both the squads. India will play five T20Is with the first game in Nottingham. The three-match ODI series will start on July 16 in Southampton while the final game of the tour will be played in Chester-le-Street on July 22.
