Virat Kohli Trains For India Comeback At Lord’s
Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli has begun his preparations for his return to international cricket. Having announced his retirement from Tests a couple of months ago, Kohli will be expected to tour Australia as part of the Indian team for ODIs for the first time since the conclusion of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. Kohli, currently in England, was recently spotted training at the Lord’s facilities. The modern-day batting behemoth even interacted with fans outside the facility in London.
South Africa To Host 44 Matches Of World Cup 2027
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that South Africa will host 44 out of the 54 matches of the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. The remaining 10 matches of the tournament will be organised by co-hosts Zimbabwe and Namibia. In a press release, CSA also named eight venue cities for the competition, namely Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, East London and Paarl. The 2027 World Cup will mark the first edition of the 50-overs ICC event to be hosted by South Africa since the 2003 World Cup.
Imran Tahir Douses Antigua And Barbuda Falcons With Historic Five-Fer
Guyana Amazon Warriors captain Imran Tahir picked up a historic five-wicket haul against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in match nine of the CPL 2025 season in North Sound. Leading the Warriors, the former South African spinner dismissed Shakib Al Hasan, Imad Wasim and others to claim match-winning figures of 5-21 in his four overs.
Through the course of his ‘Player of the Match’ spell, Imran Tahir also became the second oldest cricketer in T20 history to pick up a five-fer, doing so at the age of 46 years and 148 days.
Brevis In, Rabada And Miller Return In SA Squad For ENG Tour
CSA has announced South Africa’s complete squads for next month’s T20I and ODI series against England. Dewald Brevis was included in both South African squads after enjoying a prolific run in Australia earlier this month. Moreover, the likes of Marco Jansen and David Miller made their respective returns to the Proteas’ T20I line-up after missing the Australian tour. Senior fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will also be travelling to England after sustaining an ankle injury ‘Down Under’.
The South African team is scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is against England between September 2 and September 14.
Shubman Gill Falls Sick Before Duleep Trophy, Asia Cup 2025
Indian Test captain Shubman Gill will reportedly miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025 season for the North Zone. As per a report made by sports editor Abhishek Tripathi, Shubman has fallen sick and underwent blood tests to diagnose the disease that will keep him out of action for the next few days.
The newly-appointed Indian Test captain was recently included in the national T20I squad for the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup. Despite falling ill before the Duleep Trophy, the 26-year-old is expected to attain full recovery by the time of the continental event in the UAE.
