Dhruv Jurel scored just five against Kanpur Superstars in match number 13 of the UP T20 2025 season. Opening the innings for Gorakhpur Lions, Jurel hit just one boundary before falling flat against Superstars fast bowler Aaqib Khan.

It is worth noting that the 24-year-old was also recently excluded from Team India squad for the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE, despite enjoying a stellar IPL 2025 season for the Rajasthan Royals franchise.

Jurel Fails To Prove Selectors Wrong Over Asia Cup Exclusion

Desperate to prove selectors wrong over his Asia Cup 2025 snub from the Indian team, Gorakhpur Lions captain Dhruv Jurel failed to go big in his latest outing this UP T20 2025 season. Opening the innings for the Lions, the cricketer scored a sluggish five from seven balls with one boundary before falling to Aaqib Khan.

Overall, Dhruv Jurel has now aggregated just 84 runs in four innings of the tournament at a lowly strike rate of 118.31, averaging a below par 21 in the process.

It is worth noting that Jurel was part of the Indian team that trashed the visiting Englishmen 4-1 in a five-match T20I series at home earlier this year.

Jurel Dropped Despite IPL 2025 Excellence

While Dhruv Jurel eventually ‘justified’ his snub from the Indian team for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup, he did undergo a stellar IPL 2025 campaign for the Rajasthan Royals. In an otherwise topsy-turvy IPL season for the Royals, Dhruv stood out by mounting 333 runs in just 13 innings.

The attacking right-handed batter maintained an astonishing strike rate of 156.33 throughout the season, and had a prolific average of 37 to boast off. Dhruv Jurel recorded two half-centuries in the process and even played a Test match in England as a replacement of Rishabh Pant.
