In a significant development, India's star batter Shubman Gill is set to miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy because of illness. The domestic event is set to commence from August 28 and India's Test captain was set to lead North Zone.

Notably, Abhishek Tripathi posted an update on Gill and remarked that the 25-year-old has fallen sick and underwent blood tests to diagnos the disease that will keep Gill out of action for a few days.

Further, the report added that Gill will be available for Asia Cup 2025 as the right-handed batter will mark his return to India's T20I setup after a long gap and will also serve as Suryakumar Yadav's deputy.

Asia Cup is set to begin from September 9 and the BCCI wants the 25-year-old to be fit for the continental Cup, which is why they don't want the youngster to play Duleep Trophy. However, the report added that Shubman has still expressed his intention to feature in the domestic tournament despite not being 100% fit.

At present, Gill is relaxing at his home in Chandigarh. Meanwhile, the North Zone selectors are reportedly looking to replace the Indian star with Shubham Rohilla and Ankit Kumar to lead the team in Duleep Trophy.

Notably, Samson had to be admitted to a hospital in Trivandam recently, but still left the hospital to make his debut in Kerala Cricket League (KCL) on August 21.
