After incurring a heartbreaking 84-run defeat in the second ODI, Australia will face South Africa in the final game of the ongoing three-match series at home. The much-awaited clash will be played at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.

Australia

Despite winning the T20I series, Australia have failed miserably to bring their A-game in the ODI leg. While their bowlers haven't been quite able to keep the Proteas under the pump, their depleted batting unit has persistently struggled against South Africa's rampant bowling department. So, with their pride at stake, Australia would like to regain their mojo and conclude the series on a high note.

South Africa

On the other hand, South Africa have comprehensively outclassed the home side across all three departments. While Matthew Breetzke and Aiden Markram have come out with all guns blazing, the razor-sharp bowling of Lungi Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj has left Australia reeling in their backyard. So, moving on to the third ODI, the visitors would be keen to sustain their dream run and clinch a historic whitewash.

How Will The Pitch At Mackay Behave?

The surface at Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay offered a balanced contest between bat and ball in the second ODI between Australia and South Africa. While the fast bowlers got movement off the deck with the new ball in the first innings, the pitch became better for batting as the game progressed.

So, a balanced pitch with something on it for batters as well as bowlers is expected at the venue for the final game. Considering it's the second successive match of the series in Mackay, expect the spinners to get some turn in the middle overs, especially in the second innings.
