Navi Mumbai Replaces Bengaluru In Revised WC Schedule
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled an updated schedule of the upcoming 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will now be hosting Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium’s share of matches. The Navi Mumbai-based venue will host up to five matches, including three league fixtures and a semifinal. The iconic venue might also host the final of the tournament on November 2 if Pakistan fails to qualify for the title clash.
BCCI Refutes Shreyas Iyer Captaincy Rumours
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refuted rumors of Shreyas Iyer becoming Team India’s next ODI captain. As per a Hindustan Times report, secretary Devajit Saikia said that no such discussions have been made which indicate that Iyer would be replacing Rohit Sharma to lead the Indian team in the 2027 ICC World Cup in South Africa.
Earlier this month, Shreyas Iyer was also excluded from the Indian team for the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup, despite delivering a stellar performance for the Punjab Kings franchise in the IPL 2025 season.
CSA Release Venues For SA20 2026 Playoffs
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has released venues for the playoffs of the upcoming 2025-26 season of SA20. As per the itinerary, the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town will host the final on January 25. The venue will also host the tournament opener on December 26 with a match between MI Cape Town and Durban’s Super Giants.
The Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban and Centurion Park in Centurion will host the first qualifier and Eliminator respectively. The iconic Wanderers Stadium will subsequently stage the second qualifier on January 23 next year.
Oval Invincibles To Be Renamed To MI London: Report
The Oval Invincibles franchise will likely be renamed to MI London ahead of next year’s Hundred 2026 season, as reported by The Telegraph. It is worth noting that the owners of prominent IPL franchise Mumbai Indians purchased 49 percent stakes in the Oval Invincibles. If renamed, the franchise would become the second team in The Hundred to feature ‘London’ in its name, joining London Spirit.
Invincibles is the sixth franchise worldwide to fall under RIL (Mumbai Indians owners) management after Mumbai Indians, Mumbai Indians Women, MI Emirates, MI Cape Town and MI New York.
Matthew Breetzke Attains Huge World Record In SA Win
South Africa trashed Australia by 84 runs in the second ODI in Mackay to seal the three-match series by a game to spare. Matthew Breetzke bludgeoned 88 runs off 78 balls to record his fourth straight 50-plus score since his ODI debut earlier this year. Breetzke has now joined India’s Navjot Singh Sidhu to become only the second cricketer in history to list 50-plus scores in each of his first four ODI innings.
Tristan Stubbs also whacked 74 off 87 balls, while Lungi Ngidi picked up five wickets with the ball as South Africa kept Australia down to 193 in 37.4 overs.
