Musheer Khan, who recently made headlines by performing spectacularly in the recent U-19 World Cup for India, has yet to receive an IPL contract ahead of the upcoming edition of the competition.
The 19-year-old, who is incidentally one of India’s rising prospects Sarfaraz Khan’s brother, kept on the momentum in the Ranji Trophy as well and played an instrumental role in Mumbai’s 42nd domestic title win.
In a recent interaction with PTI, Musheer talked about his ambitions and explained why he is not bothered about not getting an IPL contract. In addition, he also revealed his father’s golden advice, which, of course, helped his brother Sarfaraz earn his maiden international cap last month.
"My name is not in the IPL. But I don't feel disappointed. My father tells me to play Test cricket and play for Team India. IPL will eventually happen, if not today then tomorrow," Musheer said in a PTI interview.
Further, Musheer highlighted the good part of not being a player in IPL 2024, which shows his character and mindset.
"It's good that I got another year to prepare for the IPL. I will understand T20 cricket more, and how I should prepare for this format," he added.
With the form he has been in, Musheer will surely get a hefty paycheck before IPL 2025 when the mega auction takes place.
