Shadab Khan To Drop Alex Hales? Islamabad United’s Probable Playing XI Vs Quetta Gladiators

As the business end of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 is about to begin, Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United will take on Rilee Rossouw-led Quetta Gladiators on Friday (March 15) in Eliminator 1 of the ongoing edition at National Stadium, Karachi.

Having won five matches out of nine attempts, Islamabad finished third on the points table. Quetta, on the other hand, have had a similar number of victories, but they finished fourth on the points table due to a poor net run rate (NRR).

Islamabad’s biggest concern at this point is the availability of Colin Munro, who recently sustained an injury. Even Alex Hales, another blistering opener, is having a disastrous campaign, having fallen for ducks three times in his previous four outings.

Yet, considering this is not the right time to experiment, Hales and Munro, if he is fit, will continue to open the innings. Agha Salman, Shadab Khan, Azam Khan, and Faheem Ashraf will follow them, while Imad Wasim, Hunain Shah, Naseem Shah, and Tymal Mills will take the bowling responsibilities.

So, expect Islamabad to retain the same playing XI which enjoyed a three-wicket victory over table-toppers Multan Sultans before coming to this fixture.
