Former Indian opener Robin Uthappa heaped massive praise on the dynamic duo of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. On Tuesday, India came from behind to stun Sri Lanka and secure a thrilling win in the super over. The nail-biting victory helped the Men in Blue secure a three-nil whitewash over the hosts. 

Jaiswal and Gill played crucial roles for India in the series, providing them with brisk starts. While Jaiswal struck 80 runs at a blistering strike rate of 177.77, Gill amassed a crucial knock in the final game. 


Uthappa compares Gill-Jaiswal to the iconic Tendulkar-Ganguly pair

Considering the batting exploits of Gill and Jaiswal, Robin Uthappa lauded the youngsters, comparing them with the legendary batting duo of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. 

The former CSK batter revealed that he enjoys watching them bat together as they complement each other. 

“I do see them, when I look at them they remind me of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar going out together, where their games kind of complemented each other," Uthappa was quoted as saying by India Today. 

"Their strategies complimented each other, that’s what I see when I see these two go out to bat together,” he added. 

After sealing the T20I series by 3-0, India will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series. The first ODI is scheduled at the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
