Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav recorded a rare batting failure as he was dismissed cheaply in the final match of the ongoing three-match series against Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. Coming at five, Suryakumar could score only eight runs before Asitha Fernando got rid of him.

The incident occurred during the sixth over of India's innings when they were in a spot of bother, having lost the key wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh.

Considering his incredible batting attributes, the Indian management had high hopes from Suryakumar Yadav.

However, India's newly recruited T20I skipper let them down, being dismissed in a crucial juncture of the match.

As SKY loves to play aerial shots behind the square, Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka had a man near the deep fine leg boundary. Asitha Fernando bowled according to the field, trapping the dangerous batter, who hit it straight to Wanindu Hasaranga.

Surya's dismissal brought Shivam Dube into the middle, but the southpaw was outfoxed by Ramesh Mendis for a sloth-paced 14-ball 13.

Riding on the bowlers' exceptional performance, Sri Lanka have reduced India to 69 for five in 11.1 overs. As of writing, the visitors were 69 for five in 11.1 overs, with Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag unbeaten in the middle.
