Ravi Bishnoi, the young right-arm wrist spinner, is determined to fight his way back into the Indian cricket team. Despite the setbacks, Bishnoi is not losing sight of the larger picture, which is playing for India in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Once considered one of India’s promising T20 talents, Bishnoi has been out of the national side since January 2025, after the series against England.

He lost his spot to Varun Chakravarthy in India’s T20I XI and was also left out of the squad for the recent series against Australia.

Ravi Bishnoi committed to play the 2026 T20 World Cup

Regardless, Ravi Bishnoi is unbothered by the setbacks. With the 2026 T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in India, the 23-year-old sees it as a golden opportunity to make a mark on the international stage.

Talking to Telegraph India, Bishnoi said he wants to stay in contention for the World Cup and win it for his country.

“I’m just looking at grabbing whatever opportunities that are there ahead of me. The (T20) World Cup will happen in India this time, so it’s a good opportunity to set things up for myself and be in the reckoning. Can’t be anything better if I can get into the team and then we go on to win the Cup,” Bishnoi said.

However, the competition for a spot in India’s T20I spinner lineup is fierce. Bishnoi agrees and believes this is a good omen for Indian cricket.

“It’s a good, healthy competition among the spinners, which also shows Indian cricket is moving in the right direction. It’s always good to compete with these guys, and even if they are doing well for India, I’ll still try to make my place in the team,” he added.

How did Bishnoi perform in IPL 2025?

Interestingly enough, Ravi Bishnoi was not himself during the IPL 2025 season, having taken only 9 wickets from 11 matches, usually being pushed into the background by teammate Digvesh Rathi.

Still, the spinner is hopeful and encouraged to enhance his game. His aim is now to deliver consistently in domestic competitions and strengthen his claim for selection into a T20 World Cup team.
