Virat Kohli's struggle with moving ball has been a talking point nowadays. The former India captain is yet to return to good form and has been searching for an international century since 2019. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 started on a decent note for Kohli, but then he failed to get enough on board in the next two innings. Speaking about Kohli's struggle, Wasim Akram said that the former RCB captain should bat with an open stance.
Former Pakistan captain and cricket legend Akram explained, "I think Kohli should initially bat with an open stance, just for the first couple of overs to negotiate the incoming delivery. With this, the inswinging delivery will not hit his pads. So he can play straight with this stance. I think this is what Virat should do early on if he feels he is struggling against the left-armers."
Akram said this on the VUSport Streaming YouTube channel. He believes that this constant problem of Kohli's batting can be resolved if he chooses to bat with an open stance to negate the impact of inswinging deliveries.
Since Kohli is struggling against the left-armers, Akram believes the former India captain should bat with the straight bat.
This is the first time that Virat Kohli is playing Indian Premier League as just another player in more than a decade. He started by scoring an unbeaten 44 against Punjab Kings but went on to score just 12 and 5 in his next two innings.
The fanatics cannot wait for Kohli to see him batting at his best, and with the kind of legacy Kohli has set in the IPL, the expectation is high. Kohli is the highest run-getter in the league's history, with 6341 runs at an average of 37.30.
Akram believes that Kohli needs to survive the initial overs, and he will be set for a big innings. "If a player like Kohli survives the first couple of overs, then I do not think it would be easy to stop him," the former left-arm great cited.
