Akash Madhwal's rise in IPL 2023 has been one of the most fascinating and inspiring stories in recent times. He could not break into MI's XI in the initial half of IPL 2023 but when he finally got a chance, he grabbed it with both hands. He has been superb at the death for MI and has played a big role in MI's revival this season.

However, Madhwal produced his best in a do-or-die Eliminator and delivered IPL's best spell by an uncapped bowler by giving away just 5 runs on his way to a five-wicket haul. He won the player of the match award for his match-winning performance and talked his heart out in his interview after winning the award.

He started his conversation with Harsha Bhogle by saying that he was just working hard and waiting for his opportunity. He also added that he did engineering first and then went onto follow his passion and added that as an Engineer he knows to handle the pressure.

"Sir, nowhere, just needed to practice hard and was waiting for this opportunity. I did engineering first and then went on to follow my passion. Cricket is my passion and I tried to follow it."

Madhwal also added that whatever he practices, he tries to execute it properly. He also talked about his comparisons with Bumrah and said that he is nowhere close to Bumrah and added that Bumrah is in a different league. He also mentioned that he enjoyed Pooran's wicket the most. He signed off by saying that his family knows that he is working hard and he will continue to do so.

"Whatever we practice, I try to execute it over here properly. I am proud of myself sir [sighs]. I will try my best to do better in the upcoming matches. Bumrah is in his own league and I am at my place. I try to execute my plans well. Sir, Nicholas Pooran [on the wicket he enjoyed the most today]. The atmosphere will be great. The family knows that I am working hard and I will keep trying hard. Thank You sir, thank you very much."

Mumbai Indians will now face Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 at Ahmedabad on 26th of May, 2023.
