SunRisers Hyderabad: 200/5 in 20 overs [Mayank Agarwal 83 (46), Vivrant Sharma 69 (47); Akash Madhwal 4/37 (4)] lost to Mumbai Indians: 201/1 in 18 overs [Cameron Green 100* (47), Rohit Sharma 56 (37); Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/26 (4)] by 8 wickets

A brutal assault from centurion Cameron Green (100* off 47) has helped the Mumbai Indians put one foot into the playoffs as the Rohit Sharma-led unit thumped a listless SunRisers Hyderabad unit by 8 wickets on Sunday evening.

Chasing 200, MI lost Ishan Kishan cheaply for a 12-ball 14, but it did not matter as Cam Green came out with all guns blazing, smashing the SRH bowlers to all corners of the Wankhede Stadium.

MI could have been 2 down in the 5th over when Rohit miscued an attempted pull to mid-wicket, only for Sanvir to drop it.

From there on, it was total carnage as Green and then Rohit teed into the listless bowling attack to power Mumbai into a position of strength.

The duo went on to add 128 runs for the 2nd wicket, with Rohit too scoring an elusive half-century.

Rohit was eventually dismissed for a 37-ball 56 by Mayank Dagar, but Green, en-route to his maiden IPL ton, and SuryaKumar Yadav ensured that the target was gunned down with ease.

IPL 2023: Brilliant opening stand lifted SRH to 8 wickets

Earlier, SunRisers Hyderabad got off to a sensational start as their newly formed opening pair of Vivrant Sharma (69 off 47) and Mayank Agarwal (83 off 46) smoked the Mumbai Indians bowling attack to the tune of 140 runs in just under 14 overs.

Mayank, who has endured a forgettable season, finally turned it on Sunday afternoon as he smashed 8 fours and 4 sixes in what was a brutal display of hitting.

At one point, it looked as if SRH would get in excess of 220, but poor batting from their middle-order, and a magnificent spell of death bowling from Akash Madhwal (3/10 in 2) ensured that they could only manage 200/5 in 20 overs, which proved to be inadequate in the end.
