The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 continues to face logistical and security disruptions in the wake of intensifying cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. Following the abrupt abandonment of the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday night, travel plans for both teams have been reversed due to the closure of nearby airports.

The match, which was halted  due to a sudden blackout, was called off amid growing fears after India launched retaliatory strikes on terror bases in Pakistan.

IPL 2025 Players Won’t Travel By Train

However it is important to note that the BCCI had initially planned a special train from Pathankot to evacuate players, support staff, and broadcast personnel to Delhi. However, according to reports by NDTV Sports, that confirmed that Indian Railways has not received security clearance to move the teams via train.

In a rapid response to the situation, the BCCI has coordinated with central and state authorities to arrange a secure bus convoy to transport the players from Dharamsala to Delhi and Ahmedabad. This move comes as the Sunday fixture between PBKS and MI, originally scheduled in Dharamsala, has already been shifted to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Delhi Capitals, too, must reach the capital before Sunday to face Gujarat Titans in their next league match. The alternate travel arrangement by road, though slower and more logistically demanding, is seen as the safest option currently available.

IPL 2025 In Jeopardy?

With league matches and the playoffs still pending in IPL 2025, questions are mounting over the tournament’s continuity. The BCCI is expected to meet with central government advisors to assess whether the remainder of the tournament can proceed as scheduled, possibly in neutral or safer venues.

Visuals from the venue showed that IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal personally urged the spectators to leave safely. Both teams were escorted back to their hotels as soon as the situation worsened.
