Mohsin's Last Over Heroics Attracts Praise From Sehwag & Gambhir As LSG Beat MI By 5 runs

Mohsin Khan's jaw dropping over in the fag end of the match sealed the deal for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as they clinched a narrow 5 run victory against a resurgent Mumbai Indians (MI) side. The youngster was tasked with defending 11 runs in the final over against the likes of Tim David and Cameron Green who have the reputation for using the long levers to good effect.

He held his nerve and delivered a gritty last over conceding just 5. All of this happened against the backdrop of his father battling his adversaries in the ICU.

Mohsin dedicated his brilliant performance to his father who was admitted to the hospital days before the fixture following his deteriorating health condition. But Mohsin did not let his father's dire health condition affect him on the field of play.

He brushed his personal issue aside and focused on the task at hand. His immaculate yorkers coupled with his variations in pace and length did the trick as the MI power-hitters Cameron Green and Tim David failed to produce any big shots against him.

His brilliant spell of bowling has significantly boosted LSG's chances of having a clear shot at this year's playoffs. The 24 year old made a sensational comeback in this year's IPL edition following a shoulder injury which kept him out of domestic cricket. His sensational spell attracted a lot of positive remarks from former Indian legends most notably Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.

"Terrific last over by Mohsin. To defend 11 of the last over against Tim David and Green was a special effort. Last 3 overs with the ball proved costly for Mumbai. #LSGvMI," Sehwag said in his tweet.

“The two Ms - Marcus and Mohsin! Breathtaking performance #LSG,” Gambhir tweeted.

Following their win against MI last night, LSG have cruised to number 3 position in the points table and find themselves just a stone's throw away from sealing their spot in the playoffs. They are sitting with a comfortable NRR of 0.304 with 15 points in 13 games.
