In a significant setback for Gujarat Titans, in-form all-rounder Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of their ongoing group-stage encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad due to an injury. The Titans' skipper Hardik Pandya revealed that Shankar was hit in the nets and sustained an injury, forcing his side to leave him out for this encounter.

Meanwhile, promising Tamil Nadu batter B Sai Sudharsan, who had a few impressive outings in the initial half of the tournament, makes his way back into the Titans' playing XI.

Shankar emerged as one of the x-factors for the Titans, amassing 234 runs at an impressive average of 39 and a blistering strike rate of 163.64.

After having four consecutive mediocre seasons with the bat, the veteran all-rounder rejuvenated his IPL career this year, nailing the finisher's role to perfection. However, the severity of his injury is unknown, as the Titans management are yet to release an official statement on the matter.

Gujarat Titans have enjoyed stellar success this season, occupying the top spot in the IPL 2023 points table with eight victories in 12 outings. They have lost the toss and will bat first in their fixture against Hyderabad tonight.
