RCB Sign Reece Topley & Rajat Patidar's Replacements

In a major happening, the star-faced Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have announced replacements for two of their injured men, Reece Topley and Rajat Patidar. South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell and Karnataka-based medium pacer Vyshak Vijay Kumar have been signed up by the franchise.

The South African international has been acquired at a price tag of INR 75 lakhs; meanwhile, the young bloke Vijay Kumar will be getting INR 20 lakhs from the IPL franchise for IPL 2023.

Parnell, who is a left-arm seaming all-rounder, has been a part of the IPL, representing Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) and Pune Warriors India in the cash-rich league.

Debuted in 2009, the South African has been a gun player for his national team, especially in the shorter formats. In his illustrious career, he has played 73 ODIs and 56 T20Is - apart from wearing the Proteas whites in 6 Tests - to scalp 158 wickets at impressive rates.

Additionally, he has played over 250 T20 matches all across the globe, playing leagues in Australia, England, Pakistan and West Indies, to prove his mettle against the best in the world. 

In T20 cricket, Parnell has 259 wickets to his name at an economy rate of 7.85 with a strike rate of 19.7. Meanwhile, the southpaw can hit the long ball in the lower order, which Bangalore can use to its advantage if Josh Hazlewood fails to recover on time.

Interestingly, after making an IPL debut in 2011, the South African last played in the lucrative league back in 2014. Thus far, Parnell has played 26 matches in the IPL to take as many wickets in the competiton.

Regarding RCB's other signee, Vijay Kumar is a right-arm medium from Karnataka who was a consistent bowler during the last edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. 

The 26-year-old has thus far played 22 T20 in his career to snap a total of 22 wickets with the best of 3-5 against Meghalaya. Moreover, he snapped 15 wickets in 8 matches in the last season of SMAT.
