Apart from Shardul Thakur's exceptional batting, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) debutant Suyash Sharma left an ever-lasting impression maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) appearance last evening against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The leg-spinner saw praise from none other than former RCB player AB de Villiers for his three-wicket haul for KKR, that came in a winning-cause at the Eden Gardens.

Sharma was drafted into the XI as an impact player and claimed the wickets of Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat, who remained as the last few pieces of RCB's resistance in their chase of 204.

The 19-year-old picked Karn Sharma's wicket as his third and final scalp.

Speaking on JioCinema, the former South African batter also lauded Sunil Narine for his devastating spell early on calling him a 'true red wine', before Sharma finished off RCB.

Here's what ABD said:

"Yeah, I hadn’t seen much of him. He was very impressive tonight. I think there will come a time where he will be put under pressure and then we will see his character. That will happen down the tournament.

"Very impressive performance tonight (Thursday) and he really hurt us. Most of the damage was done before this by Varun and Narine. But, a lot of credit should go to the young man. Big stage, not a lot of experience and he came and showed us what he is capable of."

Interestingly, Sharma before his IPL debut did not play any First-Class, List-A or T20 matches.

The Nitish Rana-led side will take on defending champions Gujarat Titans on Sunday in an away encounter.
