Don't Compare Suryakumar Yadav with Sanju Samson: World Cup Winning Captain

A bad series does not make a player undeserving, but lack of runs will always be a question that will continue to haunt a class batter like Suryakumar Yadav. Yadav, who is ruling the T20I charts, suffered a horrible outing against Australia in ODIs recently, making three consecutive golden ducks.

Yadav has not set the ball rolling in the ODIs and has been given a fair amount of chances to prove himself, unlike Sanju Samson. Samson, despite being decent in the limited chances has been left out of the side, inviting criticism from fans.

Social media is a buzz with SKY and Sanju comparisons, with the former averaging 24 and the latter 66.

Now, former India captain Kapil Dev has come out and hit back at such comparisons. Speaking to ABP News, the former World Cup-winning captain stated that management has decided to back SKY, and players who have played well deserve more chances.

Here's what Dev said

"A cricketer who has played so well will always get more chances. Don't compare Surya with Sanju Samson, it doesn't seem right. If Sanju goes through a bad phase then you will talk about somebody else.

This should not happen. If the team management has decided to back Suryakumar Yadav then he should be given more chances,"

As for SKY dropping down the batting order in the third and final ODI in Chennai, Dev explained that the team management might have wanted to utlise the explosive batter as a finisher.

India eventually lost the match and the ODI series 1-2.
