The BCCI has announced that the IPL 2025 season will resume on May 17 after being halted on May 8. The tournament was temporarily stopped following an incident where Pakistan attempted to invade Indian airspace near Chandigarh, leading to a power blackout at the stadium during a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. However, after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire, the board quickly decided to restart the tournament.

The first match after the restart will feature Royal Challengers Bengaluru going up against Kolkata Knight Riders in Bengaluru on May 17. The matches will now be held across six venues, namely Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai. The BCCI has also announced the dates for the playoff matches.

The first qualifier will take place on May 29, followed by the eliminator on May 30. The second qualifier is scheduled for June 1, while the final will be held on June 3. A total of 17 matches will be played across these venues, including two double-headers on Sundays. The board will announce the venues for the playoff games at a later date.

Schedule Clash With India A Tour to England

However, the revised IPL schedule has created a clash with the India A tour to England, which is set to begin on May 30. During this tour, India A will face the Lions in two four-day matches from May 30 to June 6. Some key Test players, who might be part of the senior team’s tour to England starting on June 20, are also expected to be selected for the India A squad.

The BCCI is yet to announce the India A squad, but it’s expected to be revealed within the next couple of days.

It will be interesting to see how the BCCI handles this situation and ensures that the best players are available for both the IPL and the crucial tour to England.
