Meg Lanning led Australia to their second successive Women's T20 World Cup title with her side beating the first-time runners-up South Africa in a close final on Sunday.

This was Australia's sixth overall T20 World Cup title in just eight editions, apart from claiming the 50-overs World Cup seven times.

Beth Mooney, who top-scored for the champions, striking an unbeaten 74 last evening, said that the Australian players don't get tired and want to win as many titles as possible for their country.

Regarded as one of the most consistent openers, Mooney is the only player to have registered two fifty-plus scores in a Women's T20 Final, having slammed 78 against India in the 2020 edition.

Here's what Mooney said

"It’s an absolute privilege to be able to play on this team. We’ve been very successful over a number of years and I just love waking up in the morning and putting on my Australian shirt. We can win as many (titles) as there is out there, we don’t get tired of it. Something we speak about as a group is making sure we are always evolving along the way. Hopefully we can keep piling up those trophies and enjoying our streak."

Mooney, 29, also praised all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner for her performances across the tournament, as she scored 110 runs and picked up 10 wickets.

Regarding the game, Australia Women posted a fighting total of 156 runs, riding on Mooney's scintillating 74-run knock.

In response, hosts South Africa fell short of the target by 19 runs despite valiant efforts from Laura Wolvaardt and Chloe Tryon. Mooney was declared the man of the match for her match-winning performance.
