Snubbed from the Asia Cup squad, forgotten Pakistan batter, Usman Khan smashed a whirlwind century in the Ghani Royal tournament on Sunday. The batter was ignored by the PCB for their Asia Cup side, and the batter responded with a scintillating knock, which helped his team win the match by a one-sided margin.
Usman Khan silences critics with stellar T20 knock
Playing for Vital Tea, Usman showcased brute power and took matters into his hands as wickets started to tumble at regular intervals. Former Pakistan keeper, Kamran Akmal was the opener of the side, and he was dismissed cheaply for 6. His opening partner was also sent packing as Usman, alongside Amir Barki stitched a partnership.
Usman, known for his explosive hitting, showed a range of shots as he quickly raced away to a 23-ball fifty, and from there on, he switched gears and pressed the accelerator as his hundred came in just 52 deliveries. By the time his innings ended, Usman Khan had smashed 138 off 69 balls, with a strike rate of 200. His innings was laced with 16 fours and 6 sixes. His magnificent 138 helped the Vital Tea post a gigantic 236/6, and it was enough to secure an easy win.
No place for Usman Khan in PCB Central Contract
Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the players’ contract details, and to no one’s surprise, none of the Pakistan players were included in Category A due to poor performances at the international level. Even the star players like Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan were demoted to B Category.
However, surprisingly, Usman Khan, who was in Category D last time, didn’t get a place and was neglected from the contract list. This move came after Pakistan announced their Asia Cup team, and the hard-hitting batter was snubbed from the side. The 30-year-old has represented Pakistan in 19 T20Is, and two T20I games, but failed to deliver the goods and was dropped from the side.
