Pakistan star all-rounder Shadab Khan has shared an encouraging update on his recovery from a shoulder injury that has kept him out of action for several months. The 26-year-old cricketer, known for his all-round performances, had to undergo shoulder surgery in the United Kingdom last month after dealing with the problem for quite some time.

This injury forced him to miss several important series, including the T20I series against Bangladesh and Pakistan’s white-ball tour of the West Indies.

As a result, he will also sit out of the upcoming tri-series involving Afghanistan and the UAE, as well as the much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025. Doctors have advised Shadab to take around three months of rest before returning to competitive cricket.

Shadab Khan Gives Positive Update

Shadab took to social media to inform fans about his progress. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:

“Alhamdulillah, the sling is off, on the road to recovery now. Thank you for all your support & prayers,” Shadab wrote.

Notably, Shadab has been an important figure in Pakistan cricket over the years. He has played six Test matches, 70 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 112 T20 internationals. Earlier this year, he was appointed vice-captain of Pakistan’s white-ball team during their tour of New Zealand. He was also drafted to play in Australia’s Big Bash League but had to withdraw due to the injury.

Meanwhile, the Men in Green are gearing up for a busy few months. They will play a tri-series against Afghanistan and UAE starting on August 29. After that, they will compete in the Asia Cup 2025, which begins on September 9. The tournament features eight teams, with Pakistan and India set to face off in a highly anticipated clash on September 14.

For now, Salman Ali Agha will lead the side as captain. PCB has not named a vice-captain in Shadab’s absence.
