Fakhar Zaman, who had been under injury clouds after sustaining a hamstring issue during the West Indies series, looks fully fit and ready to return to action as Pakistan prepare for the UAE Tri-Series starting August 29.

The 35-year-old opener was spotted in Dubai’s practice sessions working on all aspects of his game. From catching drills and jogging routines to stretching exercises and intense net sessions, Fakhar Zaman appeared in a strong rhythm. His powerful strokeplay in the nets reassured fans and team management that he is back in shape ahead of an important phase in Pakistan’s cricket calendar.

Zaman's Return Strengthens Pakistan's Prospects

Zaman’s participation in the Tri-Series, featuring Afghanistan and the UAE, is being seen as crucial preparation for the Asia Cup 2025. The Pakistan opener has been included in the 17-member squad alongside Saim Ayub, Hassan Nawaz, and Mohammad Haris. His availability is expected to add experience and depth at the top of the order, an area Pakistan will heavily rely on in both the Tri-Series and the continental event.

There had been concerns regarding his recovery timeline, with fears that the hamstring injury could sideline him from the Asia Cup. However, the latest visuals of his training suggest he has regained full fitness and is ready to feature in the Tri-Series opener against Afghanistan on August 29.

Zaman's Numbers Ahead Of Tri-Series And Asia Cup

On the numbers front, Zaman has enjoyed fair success against Afghanistan, having scored 59 runs in five ODIs at a strike rate of 74.7. While his Asia Cup record is modest with an average of 13.4, he is expected to form a left-handed opening pair with Saim Ayub, a combination that promises attacking starts for Pakistan.

Looking ahead, Pakistan’s Asia Cup campaign begins with three group-stage fixtures, against Oman on September 12, arch-rivals India on September 14, and hosts UAE on September 17. With Fakhar Zaman back in form and fitness, Pakistan will be banking on his explosive batting to set the tone and help dominate right from the start.
