Steve Smith speaks on playing conditions and Green's availability in pre-match press conference

On Thursday, two giant powerhouses, India and Australia will lock horns with each other in the first Test of the four-match series in Nagpur. 

Meanwhile, legendary Australian batter Steve Smith has opened up on Cameron Green's availability and Australia's probable playing XI for this match. 

Speaking to the media ahead of the Nagpur Test, Smith admitted to the visitors having a satisfactory preparation in Bangalore. 

He also hinted at Ashton Agar's inclusion in this game, revealing the dryness of the Nagpur surface. 

"We had a few good sessions in Bangalore and here. The wicket is pretty dry at one end. Left-arm spinner will have a big role to play."

Continuing, Smith seemed doubtful of Cameron Green's availability, hoping the all-rounder to be match-fit in time. 

The 33-year-old seemed determined to replicate the same level of batting success that he enjoyed on the 2017 tour. He also termed Nathan Lyon an asset, admitting to Josh Hazlewood's injury being a massive setback for the visitors. 

"If Green is fit we will have more bowling options. But I don't think he's even faced fast bowlers yet. So I dare say he won't be playing but who knows. I'm not entirely sure. We'll wait and see. But it's unlikely, I think.  I feel like I am in a good place. Looking to replicate 2017 form,

"He (Lyon) is a quality performer. He is going to be an important asset for us in the series. Big blow as he (Hazlewood) knew the conditions. Scott Boland can be a good addition on this wicket here in Nagpur. He has done well in his Test career so far. Lance too has done well."
