Hosts of U19 global events until the year 2027 announced

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand and Zimbabwe, Namibia, Bangladesh and Nepal as the host countries of the U19 global events from 2024-2027. 

The hosts were selected through a bidding process organised by a committee, the committee gave recommendations to the ICC, the bids were reviewed thoroughly by the ICC management. 

The ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 will be hosted by Sri Lanka. The 2026 edition will be hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia. The ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025 will be held in Malaysia and Thailand, and Bangladesh and Nepal will jointly host the 2027 U19 Women's World Cup. 


Men's World Cup qualifications

Ten teams are to gain qualification automatically. The ten teams will comprise South Africa and Zimbabwe as full member hosts and the next eight will come in from the highest-ranked teams on the ICC MF Tyres ODI Rankings. 

The remaining four teams will get a chance to qualify through the ICC CWC Global Qualifier. 


Women's World Cup qualifications 

Women's T20 World Cup qualifications were approved too. Eight teams will automatically qualify for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. The qualified teams will comprise of the top 3 teams from each group of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023. 

The qualification pathway for the 10-team ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 was approved. Eight teams will, host Bangladesh and the next highest ranked teams on the MRF Tyres ICC T20I Rankings on 27 February 2023.  The rest of the teams will get a chance to qualify through the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. 


Jay Shah takes a new seat 

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is all set to become the Chair of the Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee. He will be replacing Ireland's Ross McCollum, who stepped down from the role.
