Cricket Australia are likely to lift David Warner's lifetime ban on captaincy, after bringing in a resolution to review of their code of conduct rules. Warner, who is currently with the Australian team preparing for the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, spoke to Herald and The Age regarding his role as a captain and his future plans.

“I think it’s a privilege any time you get spoken about in those kinds of roles. So if the opportunity presented itself, I’d take it with open arms.”

With Aaron Finch retiring from One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and the ICC World Cup due next year, CA might announce Warner as skipper, as a quick-fix.

The 35-year-old has found support from current and former players in the media regarding his ban being lifted .

“It’s awesome to get praises from your peers. They’re the ones who spend the most time with me, they’re the ones who I play with, so to get comments like that means a lot."

However, Warner maintained that his immediate focus remains the ICC T20 World Cup and wait for CA to take any concrete decision.

The left-handed opened was rested from Australia's XI for their warm-up against India, which is underway right now, owing to an injury.
