The English all-rounder Jordan Thompson has been reportedly contacted by two IPL franchises ahead of the mini-auction for the 16th edition of the cash-rich league.

The 26-year-old had enjoyed a good run of form in the latest edition of the Hundred tournament, where he finished the season as the joint-highest wicket-taker.

The Yorkshire all-rounder has also been roped in up by the Mumbai Indians-owned franchise in the new Emirates T20 tournament, ILT20 on the back of his all-around heroics in the 100-ball tournament.

Thompson has got plenty of experience in playing franchise cricket. He played for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League while in Australia's Big Bash League, he has been one of the key all-rounders for Hobart Hurricanes.

Apart from Thompson, the Indian Premier League franchises have also shown interest in Somerset's Will Smeed and Surrey's Will Jacks, who recently made his T20 debut.

IPL 2023 mini-auction set to take place in December

The mini-auction for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is set to take place on December 16 in Bengaluru. The city earlier hosted the IPL 2022 mega-auction in February this year and in December, it will once again organize the event.

There will be an expansion in the purse of IPL franchises and they can spend up to Rs 95 crore. It will be a raise of Rs 5 crore as the purse for all the teams in the previous editions' auction was Rs 90 crore.

Before the auction takes place in December, the teams will have to announce the players they are going to retain and the players they are releasing. The teams can also use a right-to-match (RTM) card during the auction if they have to buy back the players they released ahead of the auction.
