Match 9 of the Road Safety World Series witnessed West Indies Legends prevailing by eight wickets against England Legends at Holkar Stadium, Indore.

Clarke, Bell propel England to a competitive total

Invited to bat first, England lost their key players Phil Mustard and Mal Loye early. However, the experience of Ian Bell and Darren Maddy repaired the innings and provided stability.

The duo stitched a 48-run stand, before Maddy became a victim of Sulieman Benn. Then, arrived Rikki Clarke, who continued, from where Maddy left off.

Bell anchored England's innings by scoring 46 off 43 balls. Clarke provided a perfect flourish  by remaining unbeaten on 50 off 25, resulting in England posting 156/5 on the board.

Benn and Krishmar Santokie scalped two wickets each for West Indies.

Smith, Perkins seal the game for West Indies

In response to the chase, Caribbean openers Dwayne Smith and William Perkins went berserk from ball one to score runs at a lavish rate. To everyone's surprise, the duo already added 72 runs in the powerplay overs.

It was the 12th over, when Clarke broke the 120-run stand by dismissing Dwayne Smith, who smoked 73 off 42 balls, with nine fours and three sixes. In the end, Perkins was retired not-out on 57 off 35, while Brian Lara remained unbeaten on 22 off 21 to chase down the total with more than two overs to spare.
