Debutant Rachin Ravindra stonewalled Indian bowling and denied them a win in the Kanpur Test last year, enabling New Zealand to play out an exciting draw. The left-handed batting all-rounder survived 91 balls, including his last wicket stand with Ajaz Patel, lasting 8.4 overs.

A fan of Test cricket, Ravindra is currently in India with the New Zealand 'A' side on their 3-match Test and ODI tour. Speaking to The Hindu, Ravindra opened up about Virat Kohli, whom he admires second only to Kane Williamson.

Virat averages around 50 in all three formats and that is difficult to achieve. He is all class and plays with so much intensity. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t score a hundred for two years. He inspires people.”

The 22-year-old also heaped praise on Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who claimed 11 wickets between them in the Green Park Test.

"They are the best spinners in the world and were bowling in helpful conditions. If you could play those guys, you could play most spinners."

In the ongoing series against India 'A', the Wellington-born has scored 66 runs in 2 unofficial Tests and picked up three wickets. He also spoked about playing more Tests for New Zealand as opener going forward.
