Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan reckons that he is ready to bat at any position his side demands in the upcoming white-ball fixtures.

The Babar-led team will travel to the Netherlands to play a three-match ODI series before heading to UAE for this year's Asia Cup.

Shadab, 23, has been a regular member of the Pakistan white-ball teams (T20Is and ODIs) but has been given limited opportunities with the bat in his international career.

Shadab started his career as a wily leg spinner but he has been constantly improving as a batter, especially in white-ball cricket.

Ready to open too: Shadab

While talking to the media at the National High-Performance Centre (NHPC), Pakistan's limited-overs vice-captain said that his batting position is determined by the needs of the team. Shadab further said that players are eager to perform under the exemplary leadership of Babar Azam.

"If there is a decision on my request, I am even ready to play as an opener too. But one has to look at the need of the team. Definitely, if team and situation demand, I am ready to play at any batting number," Shadab Khan told reporters at NHPC, Lahore.

"Under the leadership of Babar Azam, all the players are gelled and are eager to perform well in the upcoming matches.

"Points are important in every series of the ICC World Cup Super League, so the focus is now on the Netherlands tour, keeping that in mind, we are preparing hard."

The three-match ODI series against the Dutch nation will kickstart on August 16. With World Cup Super League points at stake, Shadab highlighted the importance of the upcoming series.
