  • Ned V Eng 3Rd Odi England Slam Netherlands With Disdain To Lodge A 3 0 Clean Sweep

NED v ENG | 3rd ODI | England slam Netherlands with disdain to lodge a 3-0 clean sweep

A whirlwind unbeaten 86-ball 101 from opener Jason Roy and an equally destructive 64-ball 86* by Jos Buttler has helped England clinch the third ODI against the Netherlands by eight wickets and claim a 3-0 whitewash against the hosts on Wednesday night.

Chasing 245, the world champions again got off to a blistering start as Roy and Phil Salt (49 off 30) ruthlessly laid into the beleaguered Dutch attack to hammer 85 runs inside ten overs.

Salt smashed nine fours in his rapid 30-ball 49 before being knocked over by Paul Van Meekeren.

Meekeren was the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands as he not only claimed a high-flying Salt but also backed it up with the wicket of an in-form Dawid Malan for a duck.

His double-strike in the 10th over proved to be the only shining moment for the home side as Roy and Buttler launched a stunning assault to hunt down the target in just 30.1 overs.

While Roy hammered 15 fours in his 101, stand-in skipper Buttler backed it up with seven fours and five monstrous sixes to finish with an unbeaten 86.

Earlier, England rode on brilliant bowling performances from David Willey (4/36 in 8.2 overs) to dismiss the Netherlands for 244 in 49.2 overs.

Opting to bowl first, England got off to a brilliant start as Willey knocked over opener Vikramjit Singh for a 13-ball 6.

Max O'Dowd (50 off 69), Bas De Leede (56 off 78) and skipper Scott Edwards (64 off 72) chipped in with 50+ scores, but none of them could convert it into a daddy hundred.

Brydon Carse dismissed Tom Copper (33 off 37) and Leede before Adil Rashid and Willey ran past Netherlands' middle and lower-order.

The Dutch went from 203/3 in the 40th over to being bowled out for 244 in 49.2.

England has claimed 30 crucial ODI Super League points thanks to these three wins. They will now lock horns with India in a three-match series next month.
