Following the conclusion of the third day of the ongoing second Test against England, Shubman Gill was spotted practicing hard on his batting at the ground. India did not lose any wickets for 28 runs in their second innings at stumps on day three. Gill, who is next to bat at three, would be looking forward to playing an impactful knock with the bat.

Of late, critics have been lashing out at him for exhibiting below-par performances with the bat in Test cricket. Howeveer, despite not playing big knocks, the team management has kept faith in him and allowed him to continue batting at his favorite number three 3.

Having said that, Gill could lose his spot if he doesn’t produce goods in the next few outings with the bat. The Gujarat Titans batter has been getting the starts in Test cricket but couldn't convert those into big scores.

In his last Test innings on Friday, Gill scored a 34 off 46 balls, including five fours. But, just when it looked like he would score a big one, James Anderson sent him back to the pavilion.

Since taking over the number three position, Gill hasn’t managed to score a single fifty. He averages 22 in his last 10 innings, having accumulated 223 runs in total. Gill has been in under a lot of pressure and it will be interesting to see how he performs with the bat on Sunday.

Jasprit Bumrah headlines India’s sensational outing on day 3 with the ball

After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s heroics in the first two days, Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc with the ball on day 3 of the second Test match. The Indian pacer ran through England’s batting line-up, helping India bundle them for 253 runs in the second innings.

After Axar Patel got rid of Zak Crawley (76) in the 23rd over, Bumrah took the world by storm by producing a spell for the ages. He first sent Joe Root (5) back to the hut with a perfect out-swinger. It was followed with one of the best yorkers you could ever see in the game that had Ollie Pope’s (23) stumps rattled.

Bumrah took his third wicket in the form of Bairstow (25), who too was looking to score a big one. Ben Stokes, who had switched to his fifth gear after England had lost 7 wickets, was once again removed by Jasprit Bumrah with a peach of a delivery. At last, Jasprit Bumrah ended up picking six wickets.

At stumps on Day 3, India are leading by 171 runs with all 10 wickets still in hand. Rohit Sharma and company would look to take this lead as far as they could to challenge Ben Stokes-led England and level the series 1-1.
