The BPL 2025-26 season saw the emergence of young pacer Ripon Mondol. He produced a sensational hat-trick against the Dhaka Capitals late in the innings to script an epic record.
His triple strike in the final over wrapped up the innings and summed up a complete bowling performance by the Rajshahi Warriors, who left the Capitals reeling after a strong start.
Ripon Mondol strikes a hat-trick in a magical over
With Dhaka already wobbling at 131/7, Ripon Mondol was handed the ball for the final over. What followed was pure drama.
On 19.4, he had Sabbir Rahman mistime a big shot to deep mid-wicket. Next ball, Sharifi tried to go big again but was caught at cover. The crowd sensed history.
Then came the final delivery. Taijul Islam cleared his front leg, swung hard and missed. The ball crashed into the stumps, and Mondal had a hat-trick to his name.
It was game over for Dhaka Capitals as they were bundled out for 131, and Ripon was mobbed by teammates as the stadium erupted.
It was just the third hat-trick of the BPL 2025-26 season and easily the most dramatic, coming on the last three balls of the innings. Ripon Mondol finished with 3 for 30, but the timing of his wickets made them priceless.
Hat-trick hero Ripon Mondol enters the elite list in BPL 2025-26
Ripon Mondol now joins Mehedi Hasan Rana and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury as the only bowlers to take hat-tricks this season.
Mehedi did it for the Noakhali Express. Mrittunjoy followed for Rangpur Riders, and now Ripon has added his name to that list.
For a young bowler, moments like these can change careers. Ripon is just 22 and showed commendable calm under pressure and nailed his lengths when it mattered most.
While others had chipped away through the innings, Ripon Mondol delivered the final blow. The Warriors’ dugout was on its feet, and even neutral fans appreciated the skill and nerve it took to pull off a hat-trick.
Dhaka Capitals collapse after Mondal’s hat-trick
Batting first, the Dhaka Capitals actually started well. Openers Usman Khan and Abdullah Al Mamun put on 54 for the first wicket, with Usman looking in complete control.
But once Abdul Gaffar Saqlain removed him at 41, everything changed. Saqlain was outstanding with the older ball, finishing with four wickets.
Rubel picked up two on debut, Binura Fernando chipped in with one, and Ripon Mondol closed the door in style.
Nasir Hossain and Sabbir Rahman tried to fight back, but the pressure never eased. The wickets just kept tumbling, and Dhaka Capitals went from a good spot to a complete meltdown.
Losing ten wickets for 78 runs showed how quickly things slipped away. At 131 all out, it looked below par on a decent surface, and the momentum was firmly with the Rajshahi Warriors.
