Indian leg-spinner KC Cariappa has officially announced his retirement from Indian cricket. It brings an end to a journey that began on the streets and reached the bright lights of the IPL. 

The 31-year-old shared an emotional statement, thanking the associations, franchises and people who stood by him through highs and lows. 

Cariappa described his career as something that had joy, pain, pressure and pride, saying cricket gave him everything he once only dreamed of.

In his heartfelt note, Cariappa spoke about how cricket shaped his life. He admitted to feeling pressure, pain and sacrifice, but said the joy cricket gave him was unmatched. 

The spinner made it clear that while he is retiring from Indian cricket, his love for the game will never fade 

Cariappa reserved special thanks for the Karnataka State Cricket Association for building him as a cricketer and believing in him when it mattered most. 

He also expressed deep gratitude to the Cricket Association of Mizoram, thanking them for trusting him, supporting him and treating him like family. 

Cariappa remembers IPL journey

The leg-spinner also reflected on his seven-year IPL journey, saying it will always remain close to his heart. He proudly mentioned representing Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals, and thanked every coach, selector, teammate, support staff member and fan. 

In 2015, KKR bought KC Cariappa for ₹2.4 crore despite him having no senior-level experience. He made his IPL debut against RCB and even dismissed AB de Villiers, a moment that put him on the map. 

He later represented Kings XI Punjab and returned to KKR in 2019 before moving to Rajasthan Royals.

In 11 games that he played in the IPL, KC Cariappa picked 24 wickets at 8.00 average. In First Class, he had 75 wickets, followed by 24 wickets in List-A cricket and 58 dismissals in T20 format.
