Indian-origin player axed as Netherlands name T20 World Cup 2026 squad
On Monday, January 12, i.e., less than a month from the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Cricket Netherlands named their 15-player squad for the competition. Senior wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards will continue to lead Netherlands, thus reprising his role from his team’s previous three-match away series against Bangladesh last September.
Indian-origin opening batter Vikramjit Singh was dropped from the squad following his lackluster run with the bat throughout Netherland’s T20I series in Bangladesh and the preceding Scotland T20 Tri-Series.
Vikramjit’s opening partner Max O'Dowd alongside young batting all-rounder Bas de Leede and the experienced Roelof van der Merwe, all made a cut into the team to constitute a star-studded line-up. Here is a look at the entire Netherlands squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Netherlands T20 World Cup 2026 schedule

As per the ICC schedule, they are placed in Group A of the tournament alongside hosts India, Namibia, Pakistan and USA. Netherlands will face Pakistan in their opening match on February 7 in Colombo before travelling to India for matches against Namibia (Delhi on February 10), USA (Chennai on February 13) and against India (Ahmedabad on February 18).
