In a high-stakes ODI game between India and Sri Lanka, Arshdeep Singh’s unfortunate run-out for the final wicket sealed a 32-run victory for Sri Lanka as they went up with 1-0 lead in the three-game bilateral series.

India are not clicking as they were supposed to in the ongoing ODI series against Sri Lanka. After fumbling an easy chase to tie the series opener, the men in blue once again displayed a horrific show with the bat in a 241 run chase in the second ODI held in Colombo.

The second ODI eclipsed the events of the first game as the Indian middle order wasted captain Rohit Sharma’s strong start. Rohit scored yet another half-century and built a 97-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill.

However, the middle order crumbled under pressure as a lack of game awareness was once again exposed. The left-right combination also didn’t yield position results as India kept on losing wickets.

With 40 odd runs still needed off the final 8 overs, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav committed a blunder while running between the wickets, resulting in a 32-run defeat.

Kuldeep got an inside edge on Charith Asalanka’s slide delivery that ran past the keeper. However, Arshdeep Singh from the other end called for a single and before he could approach the crease, the slip fielder pinned an excellent throw to run him out.

Arshdeep Singh, who fumbled the previous game as well, committed a second consecutive error. His judgement was off as any attempt to steal a run would have been unsuccessful in that moment.

With that, India lost its final wicket and were bowled out for 208 runs and fell 32 runs short of the chase.
