In a dramatic turn of events at The Hundred, London Spirit's batter Danielle Gibson faced a moment of embarrassment after a poorly executed slog sweep against Ryana MacDonald-Gay of the Oval Invincibles.

This miscue significantly contributed to Spirit's precarious position, as they were reduced to 34/4 in the first innings.

Oval Invincibles Women bowled first against London Spirit in the 15th fixture of The Hundred 2024 competition.

Celebrated all-rounder Marizanne Kapp wreaked havoc as Spirit's top order completely bowed down to her. She chipped the first four wickets single-handedly in her 20-ball spell.

That being said, to hurt the already demoralised Spirit lineup, Ryana Macdonald-Gay fetched a breakthrough on the 36th ball of the first inning.

Ryana smartly bowled a fuller tossed-up delivery in the middle stump line to Danielle Gibson. Meanwhile, the batter's eyes lit up as she danced down the track to attack and go a maximum with a powerful slog sweep.

However, Danielle Gibson's timing was horrible, as she went under the ball early and got completely beaten. The ball shattered the stumps, and Gibson had to walk back with sheer embarrassment on her face.

She not only threw her wicket away but also put London Spirit in a challenging position. At the fall of Gibson's wicket, Spirit was reduced to 34/4 and eventually finished with a 113-run total at the end of 100 balls.

Notably, London Spirit had a strong start to the season with 2 wins in 3 games. Hence, a loss here wouldn't necessarily compromise its position on the points table. However, the failure to execute plans and absorb pressure would definitely hurt the team.
