Indian captain Rohit Sharma exhibited his extraordinary hitting skills, bringing up a blistering half-century in the ongoing ODI against Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium in Sri Lanka. Opening the batting, the talismanic cricketer struck a belligerent fifty to help India get a magnificent start to their innings after restricting the Lankans to 240/9 in 50 overs.

The incident occurred during the tenth over of India's innings when they were off to a flier, courtesy of Rohit and Shubman Gill's flamboyance. 

As the Indian openers dominated the Lankan attack, skipper Charith Asalanka brought Kamindu Mendis into the attack in pursuit of a breakthrough. 

However, his gamble backfired on the hosts, with Rohit Sharma smacking the left-arm spinner for an audacious six on the fourth delivery. 

The glorious hit over the cover region helped Rohit complete his fifty in just 29 deliveries. The legendary batter also overtook former coach Rahul Dravid to become the fourth highest run-getter for India in ODIs. 

Riding on Rohit's onslaught, India have claimed the driving seat in the second ODI. As of writing, the visitors were 84 for no loss in 12 overs, needing 157 runs to go one-nil up in the series.
