After failing to get amongst the run-scorers in the first innings of the Duleep Trophy game, Sarfaraz Khan is showcasing his class in the ongoing second innings Vs India A bowlers on a tricky surface at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
It has been a game of individual brilliance, rather than collective team efforts. In the first innings of India B, it was Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz's younger brother, who slammed a brilliant 181 and took his side to 321 on the board.
The teenage sensation surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's record and slammed the fourth-highest individual score on Duleep Trophy debut. Similarly, in the second innings, it is Sarfaraz's turn to take the game further with his brilliant batting.
Sarfaraz takes the attack to opposition
India B had a horrendous second innings start, as they lost both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Musheer Khan cheaply. Musheer, who scored a terrific ton, was dismissed for a 6-ball duck as his team were tottering at 22/3. This is when Sarfaraz, alongside Rishabh Pant, started the repair work.
Interestingly, both the batters played with aggression and started with a flurry of boundaries. Sarfaraz, in particular was severe against Akash Deep, who has been superb with the ball, hammering him for 5 boundaries in a row. The stroke-maker was at his imperial best, and took a confident Akash Deep to the cleaners.
Sarfaraz has a chance to stake his claim in India Test squad
With the India squad for the Bangladesh Tests set to be announced after Duleep Trophy round one, Sarfaraz has this innings to prove his worth in the side. He got his first exposure in an Indian jersey during the England series, which took place earlier this year.
However, with Pant returning and Virat Kohli back, there has been a question-mark on Sarfaraz's place in the side. However, if he plays a blinder in the second innings, there is a chance that the talented player could get another chance in the India whites.
