Test cricket returns to India after 6 months as Team India are set to take on a confident Bangladesh side in a two-match Test series, starting from September 19.

India, in their last Test series outplayed the English side, 4-1, whereas, Bangladesh are coming into this series on the back of stellar victories against Pakistan, where they clean swept the Asian giants with relative ease.

As per reports, the BCCI will be announcing the squad for Bangladesh series after the completion of Duleep Trophy round 1. No major changes are expected, with the core of the squad remaining the same. The series will also mark Gautam Gambhir's first red-ball assignment as Team India's head coach.

Virat Kohli will be making his return to the Test side, for the first time since January 2024. He missed the England series due to the birth of his child, and will be making his long-awaite return in whites.

Also, as per reports, Rishabh Pant is set to make his comeback in the Test setup. Prior to his unfortunate accident, Pant was the undisputed starter in the Indian Test team, and he will be back after playing in round 1 of the Duleep Trophy.

India to go in with three spinners for Bangladesh Tests

Reports added that India will go in with the experienced spin trio of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel for the Bangladesh series. The trio wreaked havoc against England, a couple of months ago, and will the onus will once again be on them to take charge against the Bangladesh batters.

Dhruv Jurel, the back-up wicket-keeper for India

Jurel was outstanding with the glove against England in the absence of Rishabh Pant. He contributed with the bat as well, but with star keeper, Pant returning, expect Jurel to be the back-up keeper for the upcoming series.

With the Bangladesh series will be crucial to assemble India's squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, so expect Jurel to put forward his best work, if he gets a chance in the Tests.
