Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a promising start to his Test career so far. The dynamic young opener started off his journey last year with a 171 on debut against West Indies, and made over 700 runs across five home Tests against England earlier this year.

As Team India braces itself for a fresh Test season, young Jaiswal expressed his admiration for captain and senior opening partner Rohit Sharma, and signified the latter’s greatness and impact to the game.

Currently representing India B in the 2024 Duleep Trophy season, Yashasvi Jaiswal expressed his admirations for national team captain and senior opening partner Rohit Sharma. The 22-year-old cricketer said he constantly tries to learn as much as he can from Sharma, and described the latter a “legend of the game”.

"Rohit bhaiya is a great player, he is a legend of the game. I try to learn as much as I can from him," Jaiswal said on Jio Cinema.

Following a stellar home series against England, where he made 712 runs at a prolific batting average of 89 in five matches, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been tipped to continue opening the innings for Team India in their upcoming Test ventures.

The ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 season serves as a dress rehearsal for several Indian players ahead of the impending WTC fixtures. Jaiswal, however, failed to make a stand for India B in the first innings of the opening match of the tournament against India A, considering he managed to score just 30 runs before getting toppled by Khaleel Ahmed.

Regardless, Jaiswal remains one of India’s best bets as Rohit Sharma’s opening partner given his current form. The youngster averages a staggering 68.53 in Test cricket, having plundered over 1,000 runs in just 16 innings so far.

Team India will soon host Bangladesh and New Zealand in back-to-back home Test series. Rohit Sharma’s troops will subsequently travel to Australia for a blockbuster five-match rubber for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
