In the latest development, Mumbai's young cricket sensation Musheer Khan is set to earn a spot in the India A squad for the upcoming tour of Australia after a remarkable performance in the Duleep Trophy 2024 opener.

The 19-year-old right-hander showcased his class and scored a stellar 181-run knock on his debut. His knock was crucial as it rescued his team, India B, from a dire situation in their match against India A in Bengaluru.

His innings was a masterclass in composure under pressure, as he stood firm while wickets tumbled around him. Coming in at No. 3, he led India B from a precarious 94/7 to a competitive total of 321. His magnificent knock was the turning point in their eventual 76-run victory against India A.

Musheer Khan To Receive A Big Reward From BCCI

According to the reports of PTI, BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar is keen to fast-track the young talent into the India A setup, as he is impressed by Musheer's temperament and ability to perform in high-stakes situations.

He had an outstanding Ranji Trophy season, in which he scored a double century in the quarter-finals and a century in the final, further cementing his reputation as a promising future star.

In the same reports, Musheer Khan is all but certain to be part of the India A shadow squad for the Australia tour later this year. The tour will feature three four-day Tests and serve as a vital opportunity for young players to prove their mettle against strong opposition.

Selection for the tour is expected to be finalised based on performances in the ongoing Duleep Trophy and the upcoming Irani Cup match between the Rest of India and Ranji champions Mumbai.

It clearly seems that his heroics in the ongoing Duleep Trophy, the ability to score big runs in critical situations and against top-quality pace attacks have drawn the selectors' attention.

His partnership with tailender Navdeep Saini during his Duleep Trophy century, where the pair batted together for 62.1 overs, highlighted his maturity and understanding of the game at a young age.

Manav Suthar Likely To Be Included In India A Team

Alongside Musheer, Rajasthan's left-arm spinner Manav Suthar is also being tipped as a likely candidate for the tour. Suthar, who has consistently impressed in domestic cricket, has emerged as a strong contender to be India's next leading left-arm spinner after Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.
