The Indian cricket team is gearing up to return to action after over a month break, with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh on the horizon.

On Sunday, the BCCI announced India’s squad for the first Test against Bangladesh. Rishabh Pant, wicketkeeper-batter, is all set to make a much-anticipated return and fast bowler Yash Dayal has been included in the team and has received a maiden call-up.

According to the reports of Times of India, as the crucial series approaches, preparations are ramping up, and the Indian team will gather for a pre-series camp in Chennai

The BCCI has already started the groundwork for this critical camp, which is set to begin on September 12.

Who Is Himanshu Singh?

One of the most intriguing aspects of the camp is the inclusion of young Mumbai spinner Himanshu Singh. At just 21 years old, Himanshu has earned a growing reputation in Mumbai's cricket circles despite not yet breaking into the senior team.

His bowling action has drawn particular attention due to its remarkable similarity to India’s star off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin

Himanshu has impressed with his recent performances, notably in the Dr. (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, where he claimed seven wickets for 74 runs in a match for Mumbai against Andhra.

While he is yet to represent Mumbai at the senior level, Himanshu has progressed steadily and played for Mumbai U-16 and U-23 teams.

Why Has Himanshu Been Invited To Participate In India's Camp?

The decision to bring Himanshu into the camp comes as India seeks to address concerns over their batting against spin. The Indian team struggled against spin bowling during the tour of Sri Lanka last month. The Bangladesh team boasts quality spinners who played a crucial role in their 2-0 Test sweep against Pakistan recently.

The upcoming Test series against Bangladesh holds significant importance for India as they look to solidify their top position in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
