The BCCI has unveiled the entire squad of the India A team for the upcoming tour of England. All-rounder Roston Chase has been appointed as the new Test captain of the West Indies cricket team. In other news, Will Jacks has confirmed his return to India for the next couple of IPL 2025 matches for the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Friday, May 16.

Easwaran To Lead, Karun Nair In As IND A Squad Announced

The BCCI has announced the entire India A squad for the upcoming tour of England. The India A cricket team is scheduled to face England Lions in two four-day matches starting from May 30 onwards later this month. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been appointed as the captain of the team, which also features several star attractions like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad among others. Karun Nair also found a spot in the travelling 18-player group.

Roston Chase Named WI Test Captain

West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase has been named as the new captain of the national Test team following the resignation of Kraigg Brathwaite. Notably, Roston played the last of his 49 Tests more than two years ago back in March 2023.

The 33-year-old will now lead the West Indies cricket team in their upcoming three-match Test series against the visiting Australian group. The first Test of the series will be played between June 25 and June 29 in Bridgetown.

Will Jacks Confirms India Return For MI

England batting all-rounder Will Jacks has confirmed his return to India for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Jacks has so far played 11 out of the 12 matches for Mumbai Indians off late, tallying 195 runs in the process at a strike rate of nearly 130 and plucking five crucial wickets with the ball.

The 26-year-old, however, will not be available to stay with Mumbai Indians in the playoffs as he is selected in the England cricket team slated to host West Indies in a three-match ODI series later this month.

Marcus Stoinis And Josh Inglis To Join PBKS For IPL 2025

Amidst much cloud over the availability of several Australian players in the delayed resumption of IPL 2025, Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis are set to re-join the Punjab Kings franchise. Inglis, however, might leave Punjab Kings to join the Australian team just before the playoffs for the impending WTC 2025 final against South Africa.

Stoinis, on the other hand, will be expected to remain a part of the Punjab Kings unit until the final, if they manage to reach it. As of now, the Punjab Kings franchise has garnered 15 points from 11 matches.

T20 Mumbai League To Start From June 4

The T20 Mumbai League 2025 season has been rescheduled due to the 10-day long suspension of the IPL 2025 season. Originally slated to be played between May 26 and June 8, the tournament will now run from June 4 to June 10. As per a report from The Times of India, each match day will feature double headers.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officially confirmed the changes by stating that the league will now be organized across two different venues.
